Parent Meeting - March 20th
Auditions:
March 30th and 31st.
The required fees for Ballroom Team are spirit pack $250 which includes 2 practice outfits, both standard and latin shoes, team t-shirt, and sweats. $100.00 costume fee that goes to renting, cleaning, and buying new costumes each year. $100 summer clinic fee pays for coaches, choreography, music, and team activities/supplies during those 3 weeks. Summer clinic is the best way for the team to bond, get to know each other, and get a head start on choreography for the year. There are two district fees that I have no control over. I have discussed these fees with my admin. $125 participation fee pays for busses through our year and assistant coaching. $30 course fee for helps pay for supplies used in the classroom. In collaborating with my fellow dance teachers in the district the required fees are the same for all of us.
Any other fee beyond the ones listed above are not required. My idea for next year is to plan a fundraiser before pictures that will then go towards the basic package. What ever is earned beyond that can go towards whatever other fees you want. I also want to do 2 fundraisers in the summer as well to help cover costs earlier.
Fundraisers are planned to help cover required fees, optional fees, and extra expenses such as multiple guest choreographers, master classes and clinics, competitions and festivals, programs, tickets, and posters for concert, music, costumes, concert expenses, gifts for the team, senior recognition gifts (Bingham blankets), and so much more.
Students can pay for all of ballroom team with the fundraisers if they actively participate. We have a few more scheduled for this year if the students would like to participate in them.
I am constantly reviewing and revising budgets not only on my own but also with the principle, V.P, and the accountant. I will always cut out unnecessary costs year to year if possible. The principal is helping us fund for more guest choreographers and master classes. Depending on availability and time how many we bring in may vary from year to year. I believe it’s extremely important for the students to meet and learn from various professionals in all styles. Not only will this help them with ballroom skills but also networking within ballroom and dance community for future job opportunities and or college scholarships. Having said that bringing in guest can become expensive but worth the opportunity it gives.
This is a high school yearlong program and requires funds necessary to continue running and building. We have done incredible things just with in two years that most schools haven’t even accomplished in 10+ years of being around. I am extremely grateful and happy for Ballroom Team. We have surpassed all expectations and I can’t wait for it to continue growing.
